Lacey. She was in 6th grade and I was in Kindergarten. She had fluffy curly red hair that was long past her shoulders. She had such a big smile and very kind eyes. I always wanted to be around her and she made my heart flutter. She never mocked my short hair (which was not “in” at the time and especially not in Catholic school). She laughed when I did attention seeking silly dances. I would tell my younger self that this was the first of many female crushes. This was a good feeling.
